Happier Songs (For Jerry Wick)

from Information Storage & Transfer Vol 2 by Marvin The Robot

/

about

Jerry Wick was one of the 90's Golden Era Columbus, Ohio Punk stars. Famously an asshole and sweetheart often in the same deed. I heard about his death a month after the fact because I had been away for college and there wasn't internet social networking like there is today. The next month was pretty dark for me, as only a couple of my friends in Michigan had any idea what I was talking about. I wrote this song to get me out of that hole.

lyrics

No we can't see Jerry's band.
But we can make the limelight buckle to its knees.
We'll go dancing with Used Kids
and see that we control our destinies.

These last instruments
we've yet to implement,
they may never come to need.
These last regements
grow more cognicent
of the market forces
that makes us dream of open seas.
